Non-user-friendly interface in Exaile teaches being patient

Because of my introverted nature, I seem to be a lil’ bit slow. But in fact I am not as patient as I should be and even more – I am getting nervous every time I have to wait for something. This week I realized that something have to be changed. Either my patience or user interface in the Exaile application. Why? Just because of a time you have to wait if the program encounters some issues during scanning a music library.

I keep my /home untouched every time I install a new operation system. I haven’t used the Exaile on this Linux installation, which has run my computer for about two to three months. I keep all the config files so once I get back to one application, it has my configuration from the past. The same situation occurred with the Exaile. It had an old music library and rescanning did not work at all. It still showed me mp3s I had removed some time before that. I decided to remove the whole library from the configuration and add it again. The application started to be unresponsive. I use Compiz, so the windows turned kinda black and white (lower saturation). It made my blood boiled. I thought the program was fucked up, because sometimes broken packages are pushed into the repository of a Linux distribution, so I killed Exaile a few times until I decided to run it in a terminal. I had to wait a while, stop killing the application for a moment and the library was added. You see? Some patience and everything works now :)

Of course an excessive patience won’t be needed if the Exaile’s programmers decide to inform an user that something is going on under the hood. Anyway, Exaile is a good app.
